It was ecstatic when Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Francis Oppong Mensah Agrippa was placed on the stool three times to be enstooled as the Boagyaa Adontenhene in the Ashanti Region on 12th December, 2022.
The ceremony which was held at the Boagyaa Chief’s Palace saw the townspeople, clad in the black dresses cheering the New Adontenhene.
After all the necessary customary and traditional rites were performed, the Chief of Boagyaa, Nana Osei Nyame Boateng II conferred the title of NANA OKOKODURUFO (Brave King) OPPONG KYEKYEKU on DCOP Francis Oppong Mensah Agrippa.
Nana Okokodurufo Oppong Kyekyeku swore an oath of allegiance and secrecy to Nana Osei Nyame Boateng II saying “I will heed to your call at any point in time to serve. This I will do whether rain or shine unless I am dead or bedridden with an ailment.”
He then took his first steps as Nana Okokodurufo Oppong Kyekyeku before the divisional chiefs after which he engaged in some traditional dance. The chiefs then ordered for the ram to be slaughtered and libation performed to signify their acceptance of him as the Boagyaa Adontenhene.
Confidence
The Chief of Boagyaa, Nana Osei Nyame Boateng III expressed confidence in the subject and said he is of the firm belief that the Police Chief will deliver on his vision for the area.
He said although he has been good to the communities and its inhabitants since time immemorial, he believes the Adontenhene will continue his good deeds.
Acceptance and Vision
Nana Okokodurufo Oppong Kyekyeku expressed gratitude to the Chief of Boagyaa and his elders for the great position bestowed on him.
He also thanked the gathering for their support and his family as well as the Ghana Police Service led by the Inspector General of Police(IGP) Akufo Dampare for their immense support.
He, therefore, pledged to make himself available anytime, stressing that, he will not let the Chief and the people down for the faith reposed in him
Nana Okokodurufo Oppong Kyekyeku, touching on his core mandate and vision said he will not relent on his efforts to fight against the menace of ‘galamey’ in the catchment area and Ghana as well.
He said the people should have faith in him and support him to deliver on their behalf.
He indicated that he will make sure sanity is maintained in all his doings, saying one of his mission is to serve and help the people.
Dignitaries
Several dignitaries mostly from the Ghana Police Service (GPS) including hundreds of inhabitants within and outside the area witnessed the ceremony.
