Digital Athlete Ventures takes ownership of Cobh Ramblers FC as the US-based group secures a 90% stake in the club, marking another chapter of change for the First Division side. This comes after FC32, who took control in October 2024, dissolved, leaving Cobh searching for fresh investment to secure their future.

A New Chapter After FC32’s Collapse
FC32 had ambitious plans to build a network of clubs, but those plans crumbled after acquiring Spezia Calcio. The collapse of the group left SKN St Polten in Austria without funding and forced Cobh Ramblers to publicly distance themselves from FC32’s issues to protect the club’s stability and reputation.
Strong Performances on the Pitch
Despite the off-field challenges, Cobh Ramblers have built a strong squad under manager Mick McDermott, who joined from Glentoran last December. The team has climbed to second place in the First Division table, just four points behind leaders Dundalk, and they recently lifted the Munster Senior Cup with a win over Rockmount in May.
Meet the New Owners
The club’s new owners, Digital Athlete Ventures, are led by Ilya Movshovich and Pedro Lombardo of JPX Investments and Bryant Clark of Texas-based Fifty Five South Ventures. Their takeover was announced in a press release from Cobh Ramblers on Monday, emphasizing that the goal of this acquisition is to bring long-term stability and growth to the club.
Excitement Within the Club
Club chairman Bill O’Leary shared his delight at securing this deal, explaining that the hard work by the board over recent months has finally paid off. He highlighted that it was not only the financial investment from DAV that impressed them but also the group’s respect for Cobh’s legacy and community roots. O’Leary expressed his optimism about the future, calling Ilya and Pedro a pleasure to work with.
Acknowledging the Volunteers
Board member Jim Farrell also praised the dedication of the club’s volunteers, acknowledging their role in maintaining stability during uncertain times. He noted that their commitment, combined with the guidance from DAV and others, has been essential in ensuring a secure future for Cobh Ramblers.
Looking Ahead
As the new ownership begins, Cobh Ramblers will continue their competitive push, preparing for their FAI Cup campaign with a match against non-league side Bangor Celtic in Dublin this weekend. The club and its supporters now look forward to a period of stability and ambition under their new US-based owners, hoping to build on their strong start to the season and aim for promotion.
