Ghana has introduced a special free visa initiative for participants attending the highly anticipated Diaspora Summit 2025, scheduled for December 19–20, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The measure, announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, delivers on a pledge made by the Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, during the official Media Launch of the Summit. The Ministry says the initiative is part of Ghana’s broader commitment to deepening engagement with Africans and people of African descent worldwide.
In a statement released on Tuesday, December 2, the Ministry explained that the free visa arrangement is designed to remove financial and administrative barriers for attendees, especially those travelling from the diaspora to participate in discussions on cooperation, investment, innovation, and shared development.
Prospective participants have been advised to visit the nearest Ghana Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate to obtain the free visa before travelling. The Ministry also reminded applicants that the deadline for online registration via www.diasporasummitghana.org is Monday, December 8, 2025.
Visa-Exempt Countries Listed
The statement further outlined countries whose nationals will not require visas to enter Ghana due to existing reciprocal Visa Waiver Agreements. These include:
- All passport holders from:
Barbados, Bahamas, Dominica, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa, Kenya, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore, São Tomé & Príncipe, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Rwanda, Morocco, Guyana, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Malawi, and Grenada. - Holders of diplomatic, official, and service passports from:
Brazil, Colombia, China, Cuba, Germany, Sudan, Türkiye, Namibia, Hungary, Iran, India, Equatorial Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Venezuela, Malta, and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Ministry, the visa-free policy for the Diaspora Summit reflects Ghana’s commitment to maintaining its position as a leading hub for Pan-African dialogue, cultural reconnection, and global cooperation.

It urged all interested participants to complete their visa arrangements promptly and directed inquiries to its official communication channels.
