Ghanaian gospel musician, Diana Hamilton shrugged off competition from Sarkodie, Kidi, Kuami Eugene and others to win the Artiste of the Year at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

The night which was not short of entertainment endeared the artistes to the hearts of their fans with pulsating performances as Kidi, who won a lot of awards on the night promised to be back to be crowned Artiste of the Year.

Unfortunately, Diana Hamilton had rather quietly walked back to the stage after winning the most popular song of the year with her hit “Adom” to take the Artiste of The Year Award on the night.

Interestingly, Diana Hamilton becomes the first female gospel musician to win the coveted award, something she thanked her fans, the media and her management team for.

Diana Hamilton who won the Best Artiste of the Year at the VGMA 22 was not the only person who took home several awards.

Kidi had the privilege to also amass a total of four awards on the night, including Afropop/Highlife Artiste of the Year, KiDi.

The “End In tears” crooner had among other awards, the EP of the Year, Afrobeat/Afropop Artiste of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop Song of the Year, and Highlife Song of the Year awards.

Sarkodie also kept his name registered in the column of regular award winners at the VGMAS with an award for the Best Collaboration of the Year, with his controversially acclaimed political song, “Happy Day” which featured Kuami Eugene.
