The Ministry of Health (MoH) has presented ultra modern multi-purpose microscope to the Department of Medical Laboratory Science.
The Ministry, through the Ghana Health Services and the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), presented the equipment to the Department to train students in malaria diagnosis.
The donation, facilitated by Prof. Samuel Essien- Baidoo of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science – is worth $15,000.
The Head of the Department, Prof. Richard K.D Ephraim, commended the Ministry and its agencies for the gesture, stressing that the item had come at the right time.
“This has, therefore, come at an opportune time,” he said, adding that it would “help in the training of students to become experts in malaria microscopy”.
Prof. Ephraim promised the donor that the Department would maintain the equipment in order to lengthen its lifespan.
Whilst expressing gratitude to Prof. Essien-Baidoo for the facilitation, the Head of Department used the occasion to appeal to public-spirited individuals and organisations to emulate the example of the Ministry and its agencies.
