The Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast Diocese of the Catholic Church, His Grace Most Reverend Charles Palmer-Buckle says Ghana’s political arena has been bedeviled with cynicism and mistrust which has bred seeds of low self-esteem, disaffection for the country and service to the nation.
According to him, there should be a paradigm shift in terms of individual attitudes in order to drive the country towards development.
The Archbishop also made a call on government to prioritize the education of Ghanaians on value formation, recommending that the Ghana Education Service, National Commission for Civic Education and Faith-based organizations be tasked to work out pertinent syllabus on fundamental value which could be inculcated into every Ghanaian.
He was speaking on the topic; Renewing Our Mindset and Changing Attitudes for Our Collective Development under Ghana Beyond Aid at a forum held on Thursday, June 11 2020 in Accra.
Most Reverend Charles Palmer-Buckle added that for the “Ghana Beyond Aid”, agenda to be successful, Ghanaians must have the interest of the future generation at heart while working hard to secure their future.
“Ghana is a legacy bequeathed to us by God to tilt it and keep it as the Holy Bible says. Ghana is our portion of land flowing with milk and honey therefore we must have a legacy that we should develop as stewardship and hand down to posterity,” he commented.
President Nana Akufo- Addo, in 2019, outdoored the Ghana Beyond Aid document which stipulates the national plans and strategies of making the country self-reliant without external support.
The document also laid down strategies on how Ghana could be harnessed effectively for rapid economic and social transformation by improving public infrastructural and ensuring efficient use of all public resources.
