The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has issued a stern caution to recent high school graduates over the posting of indecent content on social media.
In a statement released earlier today, the Authority said it had observed a growing trend of inappropriate posts by some graduates, including declarations such as “we go scatter them” and intentions of “snatching people’s husbands,” which have attracted widespread public attention.
The CSA reminded the youth, particularly recent graduates, to be mindful of their digital footprints, stressing that social media is a powerful networking tool but also carries long-term consequences and significant responsibilities.
“Whatever we share online becomes a permanent part of our lives. University scholarship boards and employers often review social media activity as part of their processes, and irresponsible content can severely damage one’s academic, career, and professional prospects,” the statement cautioned.
The Authority further warned that harmful posts could fuel cyberbullying and, in some cases, breach Ghana’s cybercrime laws, including the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) and the Electronic Communications Act.
The CSA therefore urged all graduates to exercise discipline and respect in their online interactions, while promoting positive digital citizenship among the youth. It encouraged graduates to think carefully before posting anything online.
