The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan has commended the region and stakeholders for ensuring a successful 65th Independence Day celebration which the region hosted for the first time since its rotation from the Capital, Accra.
Speaking at a performance review on Tuesday, 15th March 2022, she stated that the success of the celebration was bigger than anticipated.
She was of the high hopes that with such a success, the region is ready to host any other national event.
“I really saw the support and we have really challenged ourselves so much and we are ready to host any other national event should the need be. I hosted the national farmers day and we have been able to host 65th Independence Day Celebration too,” she intimated.
The minister, therefore, pledged her commitment to ensuring that the full potential of the region is promoted to the international community.
Meanwhile, at a media interaction after the review meeting, the Regional Minister indicated that the advantages and benefits of hosting the celebrations had been enormous for the metropolis.
Paramount among them, she notes, is the mounting of street lights across the metropolis which she said has made the environment “beautiful”.
She added that “Water connection to the stadium for so many years was a problem but because of the hosting of the 65th Independence Day, Ghana Water Company has to change the pipes that connect the water to the Stadium… Hospitality industries and food vendors also received their fair share of the benefits and on that, we cannot keep it but let the whole public know that the hosting of the 65th Independence Day in the region was a blessing.”
According to her, some regions do not have the resources that abound in the region as such, the region must be well projected.
She, therefore, urged the media to also play their role to always put Cape Coast and the region as a whole in the limelight.
