The Central Regional Police Command says efforts are being sought to arrest person known as Kwesi, a third suspect in the burial of an unidentified body in the ancestral cemetery in Abura Gyabankrom.
According to a release by the Police, on 21st April, 2022, one Kweku Atta of Abura Gyabankrom accompanied by Alexander Owusu, the Assemblyman of Gyabankrom Electoral area went to the Police Station in the area to report that on same day at 1200 hours, they detected that unidentified dead body was buried at their Ancestral cemetery.
The statement read in part, that upon their investigations, they realized that Esi Janet the fetish priestess of the same town was the one who buried the body without notifying the chief and elders of the town. That all efforts by the elders to get her proved futile.
It further said upon their investigations, they realized that Esi Janet, the fetish priestess, who is a resident in the community was the one who buried the body without notifying the chief and elders of the town.
Meanwhile, suspects Esi Janet aged 72, the fetish priestess, and Mary Essuman aged 36, mother of the deceased has reported themselves to the police, and during interrogations on 22nd April 2022, the former told police that she authorized the burial of the deceased, a 2-year-old girl.
According to her, the deceased was brought to her for spiritual healing on 17th April 2022 by the parents and she died on 19th April 2022 whiles undergoing treatment with the consent of the deceased parents, she engaged one Kwesi to bury her in the cemetery.
The release said the case was under investigation.
