A Takoradi circuit court presided over by His Honour Michael Kudjo Ampadu fined Josephine Panyin Mensah, the woman at the center of the fake kidnapping and pregnancy case, GH¢7,200 for spreading false information.
The court also found her not guilty of defrauding a public officer.
Josephine Panyin Mensah was all over the news in September 2021 for her supposed kidnapping narrative, which terrified her family and the country.
She was discovered in Axim, several kilometers away from Takoradi, mute, unkempt, and devoid of any signs of pregnancy.

Claims that she gave birth on the same day she was supposedly kidnapped, with the baby being taken by her purported captors, were called into question after Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah said the pregnancy was a hoax.
Furthermore, police investigations confirmed the Minister’s conclusion that there was no pregnancy and that the kidnapping was staged.
