The National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central in the Western Region has been cleared to run in the December 7 elections.
This follows the court’s decision to lift the injunction placed on her candidacy, clearing the way for her to run in the December 7 elections.
The NDC had requested the vacation of the motion, preventing Madam Cudjoe from contesting the parliamentary seat and the dismissal of the substantive disqualification case.
In reaction to Madam Cudjoe’s victory in court, the Western Regional NDC Communication Officer, Richard Kirk-Mensah claimed that he had foreseen the clearing of the path for Madam Cudjoe.
Richard Kirk-Mensah expressed confidence that the recent court decision to the injunction on NDC’s Joana Cudjoe is a positive development.
He believes that the circumstances surrounding the injunction have changed, and the re-run election justifies the court’s decision.
“I saw it coming because the circumstances upon which the injunction was granted some months ago have changed,” he said.
“They came to court with a plea that the NDC should nullify the election that was held in May 2023, of which as of today that election is null and void.”
Mr. Mensah acknowledged that time is short, with less than 26 days until the main election and therefore for support of Joana Cudjoe to retain the seat at Amenfi Central.
“We think that the time is very short. All hands must be on deck. We should go to any corner of Amenfi Central and make sure our seat is retained by Joana Gyan Cudjoe”
