The Accra Circuit Court 4 has instructed Medikal’s attorneys to officially request the release of his gun.
This comes after the attorneys made an oral request for an order to release the gun, which they claim is still in police possession.
Medikal, born Samuel Adu Frimpong, was detained in October last year for openly displaying a gun while campaigning for the release of Shatta Wale, who was then in detention on allegations of publishing false news.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Denis Terkpetey, also requested that the case be adjourned so that they may submit processes, disclosures, and witness testimonies and serve them on the defendants.
His Honour Emmanuel Essandoh, presiding, has adjourned the case to February 15, 2020.
Prosecute Shatta Wale, others now or acquit and discharge them – Lawyers
In a separate event, attorneys for Shatta Wale and the three others on trial have voiced dissatisfaction in the State for excessively prolonging their clients’ trials.
Shatta Wale, also known as Charles Nii Armah Mensah in private, is charged with false news publishing, and his accused collaborators, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, better known as Nana Dope, Eric Venator, alias Gangee, and Iddriss Yussif, are being handled as an accessory to the alleged crime.
The lawyers, Jerry Avenogbor, Andrew Vortia, and Samuel Ofori, told the Accra Circuit Court 4 that the accused persons were arrested with speed and aggression and put before the court only for the prosecution to go back to sleep.
Mr. Avenogbor grumbled in court on Tuesday that all they’ve done for the past three months is come to court for an adjournment.
The case was later adjourned until February 15, 2022, by the court presided over by His Honour, Emmanuel Essandoh.
