According to his doctors, the last king of Greece, Constantine II, is dead he was 82 years old.
According to hospital workers quoted by the Associated Press, he passed away late on Tuesday in a critical care unit at a private hospital in Athens.
During a difficult period in Greek history that culminated in a military coup three years later, Constantine II came to the throne in 1964.

After a counter-coup failed, he was soon compelled to leave the country. In 1973, the monarchy was overthrown.
Later, Constantine II‘s Greek nationality was revoked.
Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark was his wife. The couple has five kids together.
He and other family members were paid for their previous property in the nation in 2002.
Constantine II, a skilled sailor, took first place in a team competition at the Rome Olympics in 1960.
Later on, he also held a position on the International Olympic Committee.
