President Mahama has charged the newly sworn-in ministers to communicate openly and honestly with Ghanaians as they officially commence their duties.
He said they must inform the people of Ghana about the true state of affairs they inherited.
“While we were all aware of the country’s pallor economic state before the elections, it is important in the spirit of openness and transparency to inform the people of Ghana about the true state of affairs as we inherited it.”
“Therefore, I encourage the ministers, as you assume office, to tell the nation about the state of affairs in your sectors, even while you work tirelessly to lift us out of the current situation,” he continued.
President John Mahama was speaking during the swearing in of six new ministers following their approval by Parliament on Tuesday January 21, 2025.
The official ceremony took place at the Jubilee House on Wednesday January 22, 2025 and marks the immediate commencement of the new ministers’ official duties within their various ministries.
Prior to their approval, the sworn in ministers who were part of the first batch of minister-designates went through rigorous vetting by the Appointment Committee.
They are Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance, and John Jinapor as Minister for Energy and Green Transition.
The rest include Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture, and Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways.
At the official ceremony, President Mahama administered the oath of allegiance, the oath of office, and the oath of secrecy and also presented the instruments of office.
