President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern directive to all public officials under his administration, declaring that violations of the newly released Code of Conduct will be met with immediate and uncompromising disciplinary action.
The president’s warning comes a day after the formal release of the Code of Conduct for public officials on Tuesday, May 6, as part of his broader strategy to instill discipline, ethical leadership, and transparency across all levels of governance.
In a national address delivered on Wednesday, May 7, President Mahama emphasized that his administration is committed to setting a new standard in public service conduct.

“I have left my appointees in no doubt that I will bring down the hammer swiftly and strongly if they breach any of these provisions,” the president declared.
The Code of Conduct outlines comprehensive ethical guidelines for officeholders. Among its provisions are a prohibition on the use of public funds for festive hampers and a cap of GHC20,000 on gifts received by officials—measures designed to curb misuse of state resources and enhance integrity in public office.
The president underscored the importance of public trust, stating that the Code is a critical part of the “Reset Ghana” agenda aimed at restoring dignity, accountability, and public confidence in governance.
By linking ethical leadership with national progress, President Mahama reinforced his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and misconduct.
