A confrontation between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) erupted in the Offinso North Constituency, leading to the tragic death of one individual.
The incident occurred during a dispute over the distribution of fertilizers intended for local farmers in Akomadan.
Fred Gyei Asamoah, the newly elected Member of Parliament for the constituency, pledged to distribute fertilizers to farmers after the election.
The supplies were brought to the region before the elections, with plans for the distribution of post-election results.
On Monday morning, around 8 a.m., a group of NDC supporters assembled at the Akomadan Cocoa Shell to demand that NPP officials relinquish the fertilizers.
They contended that the fertilizers should benefit all farmers in the area, regardless of political affiliation.
The disagreement quickly escalated into violence, resulting in the death of one person, reportedly an NDC supporter.
Currently, local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident amid increasing tensions in the constituency.
As the situation unfolds, community leaders are calling for calm and dialogue to resolve the underlying issues prompting such confrontations.
