The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the CGMA Finance Leadership Program.
This is a new remote, digital, self-paced learning program for all UCC business, accounting, and finance students.
Digital acceleration and the Covid-19 pandemic are putting traditional in-person tuition and assessment techniques to the test.
The CGMA Finance Leadership Program provides aspiring business and financial leaders with rapid online access to finance skills comparable to a master’s degree.
It also offers a new guided learning and evaluation pathway for attaining the CIMA Professional Qualification and gaining the CGMA certification.
With the help of real-life case simulations, it teaches a mix of finance, accounting, business, people, leadership, and digital skills that are needed to build successful careers.
Students may begin their educational path at a suitable entrance level, building on prior educational accomplishments, certifications, and practical experience.
Their company or institution may then track and assist pupils as they improve. To earn the CIMA Professional Qualification, students will need to pass just three exams: operational level, management level, and strategic level.
Students who successfully complete the curriculum gain CIMA membership at the ACMA or FCMA level, in addition to the renowned CGMA designation.
Holders of the CGMA credential are in high demand by the world’s major corporations and provide a path to a diversified career that benefits both national and global economies.
The CGMA Finance Leadership Program also links students and universities to the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association), a global accounting organization founded by CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and its network of nearly 700,000 members, students, and engaged professionals.
Paul Aninakwah, Country Director– Ghana at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, representing AICPA & CIMA, and Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, Vice Chancellor at the University of Cape Coast, were present at the MoU signing event.
ACMA, CGMA, Country Director – Ghana at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, Paul Aninakwah said, “I am really excited about this partnership with the University of Cape Coast.
“This will enable many undergraduates to complete the CIMA Professional Qualification and earn the prestigious CGMA designation. Having both will enhance the employability of the graduates, clearly demonstrating the value they can add to a business.”
Prof John G. Gatsi, Dean of the University of Cape Coast’s School of Business, applauded the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Cape Coast and CIMA.
He said that this will enable “current students and alumni of the School of Business to benefit from the CIMA Finance Leadership Programme, a program that uses technology to bring out the best in the beneficiaries.”
He said that the School of Business would collaborate closely with CIMA and other professional organizations to enable students to benefit from skill development, practical experience, and course materials to improve their ability to pass professional tests.
To commemorate the start of this new collaboration, CIMA is giving a 75% discount on the CGMA Finance Leadership Program to University of Cape Coast students and graduates who graduated after 2016.
