The Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants-Ghana (CIAMC) has held an orientation for its newly constituted 11-member board of trustees give them the opportunity to begin to think and strategize for the upliftment of the institute.
The orientation which was held at Assin Kushea in the Central Region was also aimed at equipping the board members with the organizational policies, procedures, and structures of the institute.
Explaining the relevance of the orientation programme to ATL FM NEWS, the Chief Executive Officer of the institute, Samuel Mawusi Asafo said the orientation will afford the new members the platform to position themselves and contribute effectively discharge off their duties.
He notes, “Even before the inauguration, members who are constituting the new board should be informed and start thinking, start evaluating independently issues related to the board so that they are not caught up at the first board meeting and everything is new. So the aim is to inform them, update them on issues, give them the opportunity to begin to think even outside this environment, begin to strategize so that the first formal board meeting will be a very interactive meeting with people who are relatively well informed.”
Administrators
Mr. Mawusi Asafo said the role of the administrator is important in the survival of every organization because it involves a lot of decision-making, policy formulation, implementation, interpretation of issues although many think administration is a field that does not have models, standards or knowledge areas that one needs to acquire.
According to him, this assertion is wrong because administrators are unique and need specialized knowledge to function effectively in the office.
“CIAMC’s mandate is to professionalize administration process with a unique form of training and certification for administrators”, he said.
