Google announced on Monday the launch of a new feature in Chrome for iOS that simplifies the process of switching between work and personal Google accounts. Previously, iOS users had to sign out of one account and log into another each time they wanted to access a different account, a cumbersome process.
“Many of us use our mobile devices for both work and personal tasks, often juggling multiple Google accounts,” Google stated in a blog post. “This can lead to constant sign-ins and sign-outs. Chrome now supports managed account browsing, creating strict data separation and enabling seamless switching between accounts.”
When users sign in or switch to their work Google account in Chrome, any browsing related to their organization will remain separate from personal browsing on the device. Local data, including tabs, history, and passwords, will be confined to the managed account environment, which Google claims is beneficial for both end users and IT admins.
This update comes as many organizations are moving away from company-issued phones, making it necessary for employees to access company resources from their personal devices. Google states that the improved account switching experience and data separation “better enables businesses to allow employees to use their device of choice.”

Upon the first sign-in or switch to a managed account, users will see an onboarding screen that explains data separation and how their organization manages their information.
Organizations retain control over how existing browsing data is handled when users initially sign in or switch accounts, and users will be notified that they are entering a managed browsing experience.
Additionally, Google announced enhanced security features that IT departments can adopt. Chrome Enterprise’s reporting capabilities are now available for both Android and iOS, allowing organizations to send critical security event data to the Google Admin console, Chrome logs, or their preferred SIEM. This enhancement enables IT teams to make more informed security decisions.
Google is also introducing URL filtering for iOS, empowering organizations to block access to prohibited GenAI sites at a category level and redirect employees to approved corporate services.
