With a whooping record-breaking of 227:00:02 seconds, Ghanaian Chef, Faila Abdul Razak has ended her incredible cook-a-thon journey for a Guinness world record.
The cooking marathon commenced on 1st January 2024 at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale and attracted supporters from far and near to cheer Chef Faila on.
The 45-year-old Chef extended her initial 120 cooking hours to the most recent 227-hour record after chef Dorcas Mirembe, popularly known as Mama D of Uganda broke the existing 119-hour record by Irish Chef Alan Fisher by an impressive 144 hours.
The husband of the remarkable Chef Failatu, Captain Reginald Ofosuhene announced that the cook-a-thon journey will end today, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 10:00 am despite the assurance of his wife’s medical team being healthy enough to proceed.
According to the husband, the decision was made by the team to bring the cook-a-thon journey to a close out of her health concerns.
As the hours drew nearer to the end of Faila’s cooking journey, the military crowned the final minutes with Ghana’s National Anthem.
Chef Faila expressed her gratitude as she danced to the tunes of music from supporters.
As part of her requirements to break the Guinness cooking record, she displayed a variety of delicious delicacies and served to her supporters, orphanage homes and street children.
Meanwhile, Afua Asantewaa, the Ghanaian event organizer who recently attempted to break the longest singing marathon also visited Chef Faila to extend her support.
Dignitaries such as Former First Lady Lordina Mahama, Second Lady Samira Bawumia, and Vice-President Mahamadu Bawumia also visited the scene to cheer Chef Faila up.
Among the dignitaries were musicians, dancers, footballers and many other goodwill citizens of Ghana and beyond.
Ghanaians and the world are poised with high expectations for the Guinness World Record to review Chef Faila’s attempt.
