ChatGPT receives 2.5 billion prompts each day from users worldwide, according to OpenAI’s statement to Axios. Of these, approximately 330 million prompts come from users in the U.S.
These figures highlight the growing ubiquity of OpenAI’s flagship product.
While Google’s parent company, Alphabet, does not disclose daily search data, it recently reported that Google processes 5 trillion queries annually, averaging nearly 14 billion searches per day. Independent researchers have found similar estimates; Neil Patel of NP Digital suggests Google receives about 13.7 billion searches daily, while research from SparkToro and Datos estimates that number to be around 16.4 billion per day.

Despite this, ChatGPT has demonstrated remarkable growth. In December, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that users were sending over 1 billion queries to ChatGPT each day. Since then, the company has seen its search volume more than double in just eight months.
