Singer Charli XCX has issued a plea to her fans to refrain from chanting “Taylor Swift is dead” during her performances, following reports of such behavior at a recent show in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The British artist took to social media to express her dismay, stating, “To those who engage in this, please cease. Whether online or at my concerts, it goes against everything I stand for, and I am deeply troubled by its presence in our community. I will not condone it.”
The incident was brought to Charli’s attention after a fan highlighted the chanting on Instagram, alerting her to the toxic behavior exhibited by some Brazilian fans at her events.

The comment made by Charli XCX about the chants about Taylor being dead feels like an insult to her brand and she believes she doesn’t subscribe to name tarnishing.
This comes amidst the backdrop of Charli XCX’s latest album release, “Brat,” which recently vied for the top spot on the UK charts against Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” a record that has intermittently held number one since its April debut.
American singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift
Charli XCX, who previously toured with Swift during her Reputation tour in 2018 and is currently engaged to The 1975 drummer George Daniel, has faced speculation regarding her latest song, “Sympathy Is A Knife,” which some fans believe contains references to Swift.
Conversely, there have been suggestions that Swift’s latest album alludes to her past relationship with The 1975’s Matt Healy, whom she dated in 2023 before beginning her current relationship with Travis Kelce.
Swift’s ongoing Eras tour, marked by a recent show at Wembley that included a surprise appearance by Kelce and was attended by Sir Paul McCartney, continues to captivate audiences and dominate headlines.
