The newly installed Chief Imam of the Central Region, Sheikh Abdul Rashed Iddris Tijjani on Tuesday, March 15, 2023, inspected the construction of the Cape Coast central mosque.
The ongoing construction of the Central Mosque when completed and commissioned will have a 100-seater capacity hall, and guest rooms among others.
Speaking exclusively to ATLFMNEWS during his visit to the construction site, Sheikh Abdul Rashed Iddris Tijjani expressed his satisfaction with the project and commended the regional mosque committee and the entire Muslim community for their immense contributions to the building of the central mosque.
With this he said, “I am totally surprised with the job I saw. And to be frank I’m totally happy. I’m very, very happy with the job that is going on. I will say kudos to them and more grease to their elbows”.
According to him, the Central Mosque when fully completed will serve not only Muslims within Cape Coast but the entire Central Region and called for the support of the entire community of Islamic believers to aid in the full completion of the edifice.
“… This edifice is for the region and not Cape Coasters alone. So we’re going to advertise and speak to our brothers in the diaspora as well to come and give them the maximum support for them to complete the edifice for us”.
Sheikh Abdul Rashed Iddris Tijjani revealed that paramount among his visions as the new Central Regional Chief Imam is to continue to help promote and protect the peace the region is currently enjoying among all persons despite their religious affiliations.
He notes that, unlike other regions, Central Region has no records of incidence of conflicts due to the high tolerance.
“We are all one and we all understand each other. We follow Allah, we follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and we tolerate the Christian. Why do we fight each other?” he questioned.
He also reiterated that as a Chief Imam for the region, his aim is to promote education, both Western and Islamic teachings among all Muslims within the region.
