The Central Regional Police Command has honored four police officers in the region who died in the line of duty between the years 2018 and 2021.
The departed officers include Chief Inspector Willaim Dogbey who died in 2020 whereas General Corporal Alhassan Salifu died in 2018 through a motor accident while on duty at the Kosoa Liberia Camp.
Also Gen. Sgt. Hezulayi Salifu died in 2020 after he was knocked down by a vehicle during a snap check duty at night. General Lance Corporal Baba Marton was also killed in 2021 by armed robbers while on a specific duty.
At a brief memorial ceremony on Tuesday at the Central Regional Police Command, a flag-raising was performed and 3 wreaths were laid to honor the fallen heroes.

The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan who graced the ceremony laid a wreath on behalf of the Central Region and the People of Ghana. The regional police commander, DCOP Kwadwo Antwi Tabi also laid a wreath on behalf of the I.G.P and the regional command while the wife of the late Chief Inspector William Dogbey, Felicia Tetteh also laid a wreath on behalf of the departed officers.
At the ceremony, the regional police commander DCOP Kwadwo Antwi Tabi indicated that in spite of the daily risk they face in the line of duty, the regional police command will continue to live up to its mandate in making the region a safe haven for the indigenes.
“In our quest to prevent crime, protect lives and property to make the community a safe place the police officers become becomes the target of the enemy and the criminal….we are not deterred.” He emphasized.
In this regard, he urged the general public to play their role in assisting the police to combat crime by sharing information and cooperating with the police to nab criminals.
He further urged well-to-do Ghanaians and the general public at large to support the police command with logistics such as building police stations at areas without it and also gift the police with patrol vehicles that will help them to seek their welfare as they combat crime in the region.
