According to him, traditional rulers with their queen mothers, and chiefs in the Cape Coast also play key roles in the community foundation establishment
Outdooring the community foundation, Dr. Ocra said they intend to have a stakeholder’s forum after which an accountability forum will held in a year.
“And that is where the community foundation will come up. And then tell the communities the number of resources that they have received and how such resources have been used,” he continued.
On her part, the programme officer for the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation for civil society programmes, Mamo Mohapi described the launch as a significant milestone for the Cape Coast Community emphasizing it symbolizes the community’s commitment to advancing their development.
“And I think the event is a good way to start to show that commitment. I think what will be the opportunity going forward is to connect with other community foundations that have been established in other parts of Ghana. To draw lessons from their own experiences.”
“Hopefully, that will propel the community foundation forward. Growing community foundations really requires ongoing commitment from everybody that is part of it and so today is a good start.”
