In a heart-warming gesture aimed at addressing some pressing challenges faced by the University of Cape Coast Junior High School, the 1993-year group of alumni has come together to donate a notice board to the school.
The unveiling ceremony which was dubbed, “A Journey Forward; Celebrating 30 Years through Impact and Giving Back” was an initiative to serve as an inspiring example of how former students can make a lasting impact on the institutions that shaped their formative years.
In addition, the group donated stationaries to the students and the school and appreciated Ten outstanding teachers with a plaque and money.
The chairperson who is an alumnus of the school, Dr. Augustina Sylvenkia stated the significance of quality education in this era while emphasizing the importance of time management and networking while in school for a bright future.
In an interview with ATL FM NEWS, the president of the 1993-year group, Philippa Afrani Gaisie, expressed her excitement about the donations made to mark their 30th-anniversary celebration after completing their Junior High School Education.
She emphasized the need to give back to their school because of the knowledge that impacted them.
Mrs. Eleanor Efua Onyame, the headmistress of University Junior High School, described the donation as a step in the right direction.
Mrs. Onyame commended the good work of the old students and addressed the challenges in providing students with essential resources.
She pointed out a well-resourced library, and lab facilities for the science, creative arts and home economics as challenges that need to be addressed to enhance research, teaching and learning in the school.
Mrs. Eleanor Efua Onyame therefore called on all alumni and other bodies to help the school access quality resources to enhance learning.
