Assembly Members of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly have endorsed Mr. Ernest Arthur after he failed twice to secure two thirds of their votes.
The President’s nominee on Sunday polled 45 ‘YES’ votes while 18 out of the 63 assembly members present at the exercise gave a ‘NO’ vote.
However, his confirmation was marred with controversies on allegations of ballot snatching during the counting process but the police managed to restore calm.
Some assembly members indicated that they will not accept the outcome of the exercise as there were some irregularities in the process that must addressed.
Assembly Members had earlier, failed, to endorse Mr. Ernest Arthur, who was re-nominated by President Akufo Addo to serve another term as the Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer.

He needed 44 of the valid votes to be confirmed as MCE but polled 34 out of 65 valid votes cast.
In the second vote, the re-nominated MCE fell short of the two-thirds majority required after he received 40 ‘YES’ votes from the 65 Assembly members who participated in the confirmation process.
