Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, the Transport Minister, is assuring Cape Coast citizens that the much-anticipated airport will be finished by the end of President Akufo-second Addo’s term.
The President’s pledge to create an airport and a harbor for the citizens of Cape Coast, according to the Minister, is not focused on a vague promise but on a concrete proposal that is on track.
According to the Minister, feasibility studies are underway to find an appropriate location for the plant.
Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, speaking to traditional officials at the Central Regional House of Chiefs, told people that the project will be finished by the end of the NPP’s second term.
“I am making a strong commitment that the airport will be completed by the end of the four years,” he said emphatically.
“If it turns out that we can establish one in Cape Coast and one in the Western Region,” he said, “the government would agree to it.” We would blend the two and create a massive airport to service both regions if it becomes apparent.”
He argues that the tourism and other future opportunities of the two regions warrant the building of an airport.
“We are dedicated to the President’s commitment to develop an airport in Cape Coast and the Western Region. Feasibility tests are currently being conducted to determine the best location for the plant.
He was ecstatic that, once the project were completed successfully, visitors from outside the world would be able to travel directly to one of the two regions for leisure and other business purposes.
He observed that tourists might simply land in Cape Coast or Takoradi to conduct business or visit our cities.
Kwaku Ofori Asiamah stated that during their first term in office, fishing harbours were built in Moree, Gomoa West, Senya Bereku, Gomoa Fetteh, and other locations, and that they will continue to do more for the fishing communities.
He also announced that one is currently underway in Elmina, with two more fish landing sites in Ekumfi and Mfantseman on the horizon.
He said, “This is to assist our fishermen in their work and to benefit the whole country.”
