The attempt change the venue was triggered by a letter the National Sports Authority wrote to GFA that the Cape Coast stadium will be used for Ghana’s Independence Day celebration on 6th March 2022.
The National Sports Authority’s letter stated that the Cape Coast stadium will not be ready for the Ghana Vs Nigeria game scheduled for March 24, 2022, that’s 2 weeks after the 6th March Anniversary.
According to CAF they can’t grant Ghana the request to change the venue of the game because the rules of engagement states that a request for a venue change should be made 3 months to the game to afford their team the needed time to inspect the new stadium to see if it meets their approved standard.
