Kwesi Dawood, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Central Regional Communication Officer, has been charged again with incest and defilement.
When he appeared in court on Thursday, October 14, 2021, he was charged with incest, defilement, and assault.
These additional charges are in addition to the previous charges of abetment to commit illegal abortion leveled against him.
Mr. Dawood was subsequently taken into police custody and ordered to appear in court on October 27, 2021.
Kwesi Dawood has pleaded not guilty to the allegations leveled against him.
On October 13, 2021, he was given a GH 30,000 bail with two sureties.
According to the prosecution, ASP Daniel Gadzo Mensah, the victim’s father, Kwesi Dawood, reportedly had intercourse with her and pregnant her.
Kwesi Dawood and a doctor reportedly terminated the pregnancy.
Later, the victim confided in his mother, who reported the incident to Swedru District police.
The NDC had suspended Kwesi Dawood, but the party’s Functional Executive Committee overturned his suspension to avoid appearing prejudicial.
