An aggrieved Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) driver at Cape Coast caused a stir at the MMTL yard on Tuesday morning by preventing the company buses from entering and leaving the yard.
The driver, Anthony Anning parked a bus at the main entrance of the yard at Aquarium in Cape Coast on Monday evening as a means of pressing home his demands over some unpaid salaries.
Anning, who did not move the bus after several attempts by his colleague drivers and union members, also refused to give the car key out to any driver.
According to the drivers of the company, several issues on their salary payment have persisted for some time now. They said about a year now, complaints on the delay in payment and other deductions from their salaries which have not been accounted for have yielded no results.

Mr Ato Forson, a concerned driver who spoke to ATL FM News said, at about 1 am on Tuesday, 30th June 2020, they were still convincing the driver but he was reluctant on moving the vehicle.
Narrating the incidence to ATL FM NEWS, Mr Forson said “Earlier before the incidence, he spoke to me about some challenges he has been facing at home. For about two months of delayed salaries, his wife has threatened to leave him. So it is due to the pressure from home that has resulted in this action of his. He said he wouldn’t move the bus if his salary is not given to him. He also did not want to show where he hid the car keys”.
Anning’s refusal to heed to his colleagues drew the attention of the branch management to it.
The manager’s effort to talk Anning out of his decision also yielded no results. The Manager therefore invited the police to direct him to release the car key or move the bus.
But the driver turned a deaf ear to them as well. This resulted in his arrest to the Bakaano Police station where he was detained for the night.
His actions prevented other buses from either entering or exiting the yard, thereby hindering the company’s activities for the early hours of Monday morning.
