The Denkyira Kingdom has commenced the final funeral rites of Denkyirahene Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III.
Indigenes and Ghanaians from across the country and beyond will converge in both Jukwa and Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality
Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III
Born on 11 November 1923, the late ruler became king in November 1955, until his sad demise on 2nd December, 2015.
His 60-year reign makes him the oldest ruler in the history of Denkyiraman since 1500.
He served as the Vice President and later, President of the National House of Chiefs during his time.

He was also a member of the constituent assemblies of 1969, 1979 and 1992 where he also served as member of the council of state in 1992.
Odeefuo Boa Amponsem was honoured by the Head of State and presented with the Order of Volta, in 1992.

As part of preparation towards the final funeral rite of the late Denkyira Omanhene Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III residents in Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the central region has held Mpr3 which is a traditional dirge displayed by the women in Denkyira awaiting the arrival of their king.
Mpr3 is an activity of hooting, drumming, dancing of traditional dirge displayed by the women in the Denkyira awaiting the arrival of their king.
Dignitaries
Several dignitaries including; President Akufo-Addo, would also pay their last respect to the departed chief before his burial.
The Denkyira Traditional Council set Sunday, April 17, to Saturday, April 30, 2022 as dates for the performance of the funeral rites of the late Odeefo Boa-Amponsem III.
