Bradley Urges Calm as Shamrock Aim to Overturn Deficit
Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley has called for composure as his side prepare to host Ballkani in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League third-round qualifier at Tallaght Stadium. Trailing 1-0 from the first leg in Kosovo, courtesy of Sunday Adetunji’s strike, the Hoops must find the net to keep their European hopes alive.

Focusing on Performance, Not Panic
Bradley admitted his side fell short of their usual standards in the opening leg and stressed the importance of improving across the pitch. Speaking to RTÉ Sport, he outlined a measured approach: the aim is to play their natural game, create chances, and remain composed. “We don’t need to chase from the first minute,” he said, emphasising that patience and precision will be key. Whether the win comes in 90 minutes, extra time, or penalties, Bradley believes the focus should be on delivering a strong performance above all else.
Respect for the Opposition
Despite expectations that Rovers would have too much quality for Ballkani—given their strong Premier Division form and dominant display against St Joseph’s in the previous round—Bradley sees Thursday’s visitors as a serious threat. He likened them to Slovenian side Celje, who Rovers overcame last year in one of their best European performances. Ballkani’s pace out wide and the physical presence of Adetunji are seen as major challenges Rovers must manage effectively.
Eyes on Multiple Prizes
Bradley reaffirmed the club’s ambition to go deep into Europe while also targeting domestic success in the league and FAI Cup. Achieving that means overcoming Ballkani and performing at their highest level. He insists that Thursday’s match will be pivotal to those goals.
Squad Updates and Experience
The Hoops will be boosted by the return of Graham Burke from injury, but Jack Byrne and Aaron McEneff remain unavailable after being left out of the UEFA squad. Bradley plans to rely on his experienced core while integrating recent signings, noting that many players in the group have already accumulated significant European experience. He stressed that the right blend of youth and experience could be decisive in navigating the different phases of the match and keeping their European journey alive.
