The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has urged its representatives to stay calm as inquiries into reports of food supply diversions in some Ashanti Region Senior High Schools starts.
The Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is looking into allegations of misconduct in the operation of the School Feeding Programme under the Free SHS scheme at 53 SHSs in the Region.
As a result, GES management has written to the Ashanti Regional Directorate to request that all school principals and other officials assist with the ongoing investigations.
There has been intense agitation and indignation among school administrators whose institutions have been involved in the continuing investigation.
However, the CHASS President, Alhaji Ahmed Yakubu, has advised members to remain calm.
“All we have to do now is keep cool and see how things play out. One thing we know for sure and certain is that nothing of that sort has happened; that is headmasters giving out food and giving out cash”, he said.
Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem SHS, Adu Gyamfi SHS, Kumasi Anglican, Kumasi Girls, Kumasi Wesley Girls, KNUST SHS, and Opoku Ware SHS are among the schools mentioned in the declaration.

Osei Tutu SHS, Prempeh College, Kumasi Academy, and the Kumasi Technical Institute are among the others.
“If ordered, the respective District Directors of Education must release the Headmaster/Mistress or the Assistants, Domestic Bursars, Accountants, and Storekeepers of the attached list of schools to the CID for investigations.”
“It will be greatly appreciated if your office will completely cooperate and work with the CID in carrying out the investigations,” the statement continued.
