The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is predicted to win the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership race according to a new survey done by two reputable research organizations.
Bawumia has a commanding lead over his opponents, with 80.8% of delegates supporting him, according to the survey, which was conducted by The Outcomes International in Ghana and the Centre for Sustainable African Development Initiatives (C-SADI) in the United Kingdom.
Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong is predicted to come in second place with 10.4% of the vote, ahead of Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto (1.1%) and Francis Addai-Nimoh (0.4%). Among the delegates, 7.3% are undecided.
“H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has the highest level of support among the delegates, with about 80.8% followed by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong (10.4%), Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto (1.1%), and Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh (0.4%). 7.3% of the delegates are still undecided,” the report said.
The poll’s findings are consistent with previous surveys, which have all shown Bawumia with a large advantage.
Kennedy Agyapong produced a significant shock during the party’s Super Delegates Conference, finishing second to Dr Bawumia with 132 votes, representing 14.30% of the vote. Alan Kyeremanten was expected to finish second.
However, according to the survey, Dr. Bawumia is the frontrunner to win, owing to his vision for both party and nation, as well as his competency and ability to win the presidential race in 2024.

The NPP’s flagbearer, or presidential candidate, will be chosen by more than two hundred thousand delegates on November 4, 2023, in preparation for the general elections in 2024. Thus far, every poll has predicted Dr. Bawumia’s easy victory.
