The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched comprehensive investigations into the banking and financial sector crises.
Nine domestic banks and other financial institutions failed as a result of the crisis.
Following the financial clean-up, experts urged the government to punish former central bank officials whose actions and inaction contributed to the bank collapses.
For example, Mr Joe Jackson, a financial expert, asked why those authorities had not been held accountable for their management.
However, the OSP said on Tuesday, January 25, that the inquiry would focus on suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses committed by officials of the Bank of Ghana, banks, specialized deposit-taking institutions, and all financial holding companies.
