In six communities in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Area, a three-month HIV/AIDS intervention and advocacy initiative has started to instill in people a real sense of obligation for leading a positive existence.
GAP Health Aid Foundation, a non-governmental organization, is implementing the initiative, which will conclude in June.
Asuboi, Dokrokyiwa, Coaltar, Mankrong, Teacher Mantey, and Anum Apapam are among the groups that would benefit.
“HIV and AIDS Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility, and Personal Commitment” is the theme.

Mrs Georgina Akua Padi, Executive Director of GAP Health Assistance Foundation, said the service will be expanded to junior high and senior high schools in the region after she gave a presentation about it at an open session with some community leaders.
“As people, it is incumbent on us to become active in the battle against the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the same manner that we are involved in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mrs Padi said.
According to the incidence rate, new infections is of every day due to a lack of basic knowledge about the epidemic, and she said, “Children are being born with the virus due to the neglect and or indifference of expectant mothers.”
She acknowledged that stigma and bigotry remained a challenge in the battle against the disease, which was one of the reasons campaigning was important, and expressed confidence that “the path would be smoothened along with the assistance of opinion makers to help realise a fruitful programme as anticipated.”
During the meetings, the opinion leaders shared appreciation to the organization for selecting their neighborhoods for the initiative, and they stated that HIV and AIDS were issues for which community members had little or no knowledge about.
