Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, one of the suspects arrested in connection with the killing of the 21-year-old soldier Private Imoro Sherrif in Zongo Laka in the Greater Accra Region, has been granted a GH150,000.00 bail with three sureties, two of which must be justified.

However, only Rakib was granted bail due to his health condition.
When the case was called on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, Abdul Fatawu Alhassan, the defence counsel for three out of the six accused persons including Rakib told the court that his client was battling a stomach ulcer and had been suffering in the police cells.
As a result, he pleaded with the court to grant bail because, if left untreated, his client’s health might worsen over time.
Yussif Mohammed, the fifth suspect, was represented by attorney Ishahadu Mohammed; he was charged with dishonestly receiving an item as well. Bail was denied for Yussif Mohammed.
Medical reasons
In opposition to the bail requests, Superintendent Sylvester Asare of the prosecution argued that Ibrahim Abdul Rakib and the other suspects had been held in police custody at the Police Headquarters, which was close to the Police Hospital, and had never disclosed any health issues to the investigators.

He persuaded the judge to refuse bail and hold the suspects in detention with the assurance that they would receive medical care instead.
Judge Simon Gaga made his decision not to grant bail after carefully weighing the four accused people’s attorneys’ arguments, the gravity of the allegations, and the potential punishments.
The court decided to give bail in the case of Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, nonetheless, because of his medical condition.
The remaining five persons arrested in connection with the killing of Private Imoro Sherrif, a soldier, on March 4, at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra and charged with stealing, robbery and receiving of dishonest goods were however remanded in police custody.
They are Yussif Mohammed, Safianu Musah, alias Dayorgu, Abubakar Sadick, alias Birdman, Samuel Tetteh, nicknamed Wiper, and Abdul Gafaru Abdul Karim.
On April 25, 2023, they would reappear in court. The Prosecution must submit disclosures by April 25, 2023, or earlier, according to court ruling.
This came after the prosecution asked the court to adjourn the case so they could further their investigations, which he said had made significant progress.
In asking the court to adjourn, Superintendent Asare argued that the accused should remain in detention for the sake of justice and their own safety.
Second case
Meanwhile, Samuel Tetteh, alias Wiper, Abubakar Sadick, alias Birdman, who have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the same case will reappear appeared before the District Magistrate Court in Tema presided over by Benedicta Antwi on April 25, 2023, pending the advice from the office of the Attorney-General (A-G).
This was after the prosecutor, Superintendent Sylvester Asare, prayed the court to remand the suspects since they were awaiting advice from the office of the A-G.
