Apple plans to release only premium iPhones in fall 2026, according to reports from The Information. Next year, the company intends to adjust its iPhone release schedule to accommodate its first foldable iPhone, making the lineup more manageable.
The foldable model is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and “Air” models, while the standard iPhone 18 will be delayed until spring 2027, coinciding with a follow-up to the iPhone 16E.

With a total of six iPhones in the lineup, Apple is reorganizing its strategy to handle the complexity. The foldable device will feature a book-style design, boasting a 5.7-inch screen when closed and an almost 8-inch display when open. Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has indicated that it will measure between 4.5 and 4.8 mm thick when unfolded and will utilize Face ID instead of Touch ID.
The report also notes that Apple will introduce a new battery case for the iPhone 17 Air, as testing revealed that its battery life may not meet expectations compared to previous models. Additionally, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are set to feature under-display Face ID sensors, leaving only a small cutout for the front-facing camera.
