Apple is facing a federal lawsuit claiming false advertising regarding various Apple Intelligence features.
The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court in San Jose, seeks class-action status and damages for individuals who bought iPhones and other devices with Apple Intelligence capabilities. Plaintiffs argue that these device owners have not received the promised features.
The complaint states, “Apple’s advertisements created a clear and reasonable expectation among consumers that these transformative features would be available at the iPhone’s launch. Contrary to the defendant’s assertions of advanced AI capabilities, the products offered a much more limited or completely absent version of Apple Intelligence, misleading consumers about its actual functionality and effectiveness.”

This legal action adds to Apple’s challenges as it works to deliver the highly anticipated Apple Intelligence features. Bloomberg reported on Thursday that Apple CEO Tim Cook has reportedly lost confidence in AI leader John Giannandrea’s ability to drive product development.
