Apple is reportedly exploring the use of AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic to enhance its updated version of Siri, rather than relying solely on its in-house technology, according to a Bloomberg report on Monday.
The company is also developing a project internally referred to as “LLM Siri,” which utilizes its own AI models. However, Apple has asked OpenAI and Anthropic to create versions of their AI models that can operate on Apple’s cloud infrastructure for testing purposes.

Originally scheduled for release in 2025, Apple has postponed its AI-enabled Siri launch to 2026 or later due to various technical challenges. This delay highlights Apple’s ongoing struggle to keep pace with competitors like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in the AI landscape.
While Siri currently utilizes ChatGPT for more complex inquiries, Apple appears to be seeking a more extensive integration of third-party AI technologies.
