The case of Hezekiah Prayer Ministry’s Apostle Kwabena Owusu Adjei, who reportedly threatened to kill Electoral Commission Chairman Madam Jean Mensah, has been rescheduled for May 17.
Sergeant Kofi Frimpong represented Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sylvester Asare in an Accra Circuit Court hearing today.
After Sergeant Frimpong pronounced himself as keeping the brief of ASP Asare, the Court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh adjourned the case.
Adjei is being kept on a GH100,000 bail.
Adjei has pled not guilty to allegations of threatening murder, illegal storage of narcotic plants, and battery on a police officer.
The prosecution said that on June 5, last year, the defendant, Madam Jean Mensah, complained to the police that while performing her legislative duties as Electoral Commissioner, Adjei threatened to kill her.
According to the prosecution, the defendant was investigated by the police and a complaint was taken as a result of this.

According to ASP Asare, Adjei was arrested on June 9 last year at Greda Estate in Teshie while giving an interview to a team of journalists in relation to a video he posted on social media.
He said that the accused in the video threatened Mrs. Mensah’s life.
Following that, the prosecution claimed that a search on Adjei yielded one Infinix five phone, a black wallet containing GH29.00, and a Voter ID Card.
“A brown waist pack was also discovered on the accused, which included, among other things, one smartphone charger, two alleged aphrodisiac marked Mr Q, one brown smoking XL file, and two brown wrapped material of dried leaves suspected to be a narcotic plant,” he added.
Adjei admitted possession after the inventory was taken, according to the prosecution.
Meanwhile, investigations revealed that Adjei accompanied a party that made donations to an orphanage called Jehovah Rapha Foundation in Suhum, Eastern Region, on several occasions over the last four years.
The Prosecution said in order to facilitate the commission of “this crime and also put complainant in fear of death, on June 4, 2020, the accused and five others, which included a presenter from Otumfuo TV Station, in a guise of donation, visited the orphanage to donate few items, which included cooked rice and face masks.”
Further tests, according to the prosecutors, revealed that while at the orphanage with the gang, Adjei made a video of himself in which he threatened to kill Jean Mensah.
A closer examination of the video revealed the use of violent, offensive, and disrespectful words towards the defendant, according to the prosecutor.
Adjei’s video was shared on social media, according to the prosecution, and he was found on June 9 at Greda Estate in Teshie.
The dried leaves were submitted to the Police Forensic Laboratory on June 17, last year, and the findings were positive for “Delta–9 tetra hydro cannabinol and cannabinol” on June 22.
The prosecution said that the police were awaiting the transcription analysis of the accused’s videotape.
