A well-produced song never grows old, and famous Highlife performer Amandzeba can rightfully claim that his song Wɔgbɛ Dzɛkɛ is one of those that has stood the test of time.
The talented singer will be commemorating WŔgbɛ Dzɛkɛ’s 25 years next year, and he says it with great joy knowing the influence the song has made over the years.
“I have got the chance to travel the world and play at various festivals because to Wɔgbɛ Dzɛkɛ. I was asked to give lectures in Israel’s Jewish schools and have also traveled to other nations after I translated the song’s lyrics for a group of white people.
“Anytime Wɔgbɛ Dzɛkɛ is played, it feels like it was just recorded and that is because of good production. From instrumentation, lyrics, arrangement and all the components that make a good song is in there. I don’t regret spending so much on this production because it is still paying off. Anywhere the song is played, everyone loves it and I feel fulfilled that it belongs to me.
“Next year, Wɔgbɛ Dzɛkɛ will be 25 years and I intend to celebrate it big time because it has chalked a lot of successes. I want to thank Kwame Yeboah for recording such a wonderful piece” he told Daily Graphic in an interview.
Speaking about the 25th anniversary celebration, Amandzeba mentioned that many choirs and individuals have performed the song, and he would provide these performers with the chance to play at a performance he and his crew are organizing.
Considering how many different personalities I have who adore Wɔgbɛ Dzɛkɛ, it should be really engaging and dynamic. He disclosed, “I’ll also allow anybody who wish to sing the song the chance to do so.

Amandzeba is passionate about creating uplifting music, and he claims that when he enters the studio, his first thought is always about projecting Africa, which has helped his songs stand out.
“Whenever I am writing a song, it is about telling the African story and that makes the song rich and authentic. If I am even writing a love song, I want to use local names like Ama, Akosua and not use an English name. I have songs like Dede, Ama and I am proud of such African names. Great songs are timeless and I am delighted to know that the youth still love Highlife music” he stated.
The man known as Amandzeba
Amandzeba, who is also well-known for her songs Toffee, Aso, Medo, Kotosa, and Deeba, was previously married to Highlife musician Akosua Adjepong. The couple had four children together before divorcing.
A man with multiple accolades from various organizations, Amandzeba is the father of two children from previous marriages in addition to his present spouse.
He defines himself as the conduit between the living and the dead, as well as between the old and the new. “I call myself this because I play old songs with a contemporary feel.”
Amandzeba believed he would make a fantastic musician even though he wasn’t even ten years old, and now that he’s older and more determined, he’s among the top musicians in Ghana.
