The Ministry of Education has directed all final year senior high school (SHS)day students in boarding schools to be migrated to the boarding system.
Speaking at a press briefing early Tuesday, on the specific guidelines for the safe reopening of schools and universities, Minister for Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh announced that day students will be accepted as boarding students whereas their colleagues in purely day schools remain as day students.
The minister stated, there will be enhanced protocols to ensure the safety of the students, however, that does not include transportation for the students.
“The health experts tell us it’s too cluttered a space for these kids and its better for them even when they walk to school, we will ensure that the necessary things are done to prevent the spread of the virus in the school,” he said.
