Flagbearer of Movement for Change, Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has officially announced the rebranding of his party to United Party.
He made the announcement at a ceremony in Accra on Thursday, October 16, describing the rebranding as the ushering in of a new era to break the duopoly in Ghanaian politics.
“The vision of the United Party is to make Ghana the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040,” Alan Kyerematen, Leader, United Party said.
Alan Kyerematen was a long-standing, prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a key contender in its presidential primaries. After placing third in the NPP’s presidential primary in November 2023, he resigned from the party, citing bias and an unlevelled playing field.
He subsequently founded the “Movement for Change,” which began as a political movement with the “Butterfly” as its symbol. This latest announcement formalizes the movement into a full-fledged political party and calling for what he described as a “transformational leadership agenda.”
