The independent presidential aspirant and founder of the Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has unveiled plans to transform the Central Region into West Africa’s premier international financial services hub.
Speaking to the media after touring some market centres in the central region he expressed his commitment to elevating its status to match that of the Greater Accra and Western regions.
He underscored the need for significant development that has been lacking despite the region’s long history of support for the two major political parties; NDC and NPP.
Alan noted that his vision for the Central Region as a financial powerhouse aims to catalyze economic growth and ensure its rise as a key player in Ghana and across the entire West African sub-region.
“We know that Accra-Tema has been an industrial and commercial centre but we that Accra-Tema is choked the next major project should come to the central region and that is the financial services centre because if you have a region that sits between the western region which is the oil and gas and the capital which is the Greater Accra and you have such a region sitting in between those two regions then you need the financial energy to support both the Greater Accra region and the Western Region.”
“The second one is to develop Central Region as the new tourism hub for West Africa because as I said 32 out of the 42 historical sites accredited by UNESCO most of those historical sites are in the Central Region so with these two projects, I can guarantee you that if I become president the Central Region will move forward aggressively,” he added.
The Presidential aspirant also called on the electorates to break away from the longstanding political dominance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), advocating for a fresh direction under his leadership.
On his commitment to traders, he said his government would establish a banking system for them to ease access to affordable capital and credit for their businesses.
“Now the market infrastructure here in the Central Region is one of the worst in the whole country and my first commitment if you vote me to power as president is to make sure that we modernize the market infrastructure in the Central Region because without traders even when we enhance production in Ghana, there can be no distribution,” he continued.
