President Akufo-Addo will lead a Ghanaian delegation to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) 75th anniversary ceremony this afternoon in Paris, France, at the invitation of UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, the Director of Communications for the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin, has announced.
The United Nations Charter, which took effect on 16 November 1945, provided for the establishment of a specialized agency in the fields of education and culture, and the President will deliver a statement on Friday, 12 November, at the height of the commemoration, on the impact of UNESCO on Ghana and what Ghana expects from UNESCO in the coming years.
President Akufo-Addo will take a much-deserved, long-overdue seven-day leave of absence from Saturday, 13th November, to Saturday, 20th November, during which he has accepted an invitation to preside over a panel that will adjudicate a debate in the French Parliament on “The Trial of Progress” on Friday, 19th November.
The President is scheduled to return to Ghana on Saturday, November 20, and while he is abroad, Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia will serve in his absence.
