The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will cut the sod for the government’s ambitious Agenda 111 hospitals project later today, Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
This will take place in the Ashanti Region’s Atwima Kwanwoma District.
President Akufo-Addo pledged these initiatives in April 2020, and they are intended at funding Ghana’s health system in the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic.
In an interview with Citi News, Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Opare, who heads the Committee overseeing the full implementation of Agenda 111, stated Ghana’s healthcare system is set to change.
According to her, President Akufo-Addo is committed to seeing that these projects are completed for the benefit of Ghanaians.
“Agenda 111 will enhance healthcare in every area throughout the nation that now lacks it. To the point where, as we have all seen, every single constituency in this nation has its own ambulance devoted to assisting with healthcare access.”
The project would also include the renovation of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region, as well as the building of two new mental hospitals and a new psychiatric hospital in Accra.
Meanwhile, via a lead project consultant, the government has already hired over 20 local consulting companies to offer architectural, engineering, and project management assistance for the project’s implementation.
