President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has terminated the appointment of the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen with immediate effect.
In a statement issued by the presidency and signed by the director of communications Eugene Arhin, it said “prior to the termination, the president spoke to the minister after being made aware of the allegations leveled against the minister in the exposé “Galamsey Economy”.
With barely few hours to show the exposé, Anas Aremeyaw Anas took to his Facebook page and revealed Mr. Adu Boahen’s involvement as part of handlers who cut deals at the expense of the state.
According to the investigative journalist, the Tiger Eye investigators in an undercover investigation posed as businessmen and met with the minister in a hotel room in the United Arab Emirates.
It was at the said meeting that Mr. Charles Adu Boahen revealed to Tiger Eye that “the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, needs just USD200, 000 token as an appearance fee and some positions by an investor for the Vice President’s siblings to get his backing and influence in establishing a business in Ghana.”
According to the minister, the Vice President needs an appearance fee of only USD 200,000 for him to avail himself and offer his support to an investor.
