President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians about the integrity and transparency of the upcoming electoral process.
President Akufo-Addo reiterated his commitment to ensure free and fair elections in the December polls.
He said he wants his vice president to win the 2024 elections, yet, he will not undermine the will of his people.
“As president, I cannot impose anybody on you. I do not have the power or interest. I want the decision just as I was elected, the next person to stand here in my shoes will also be elected by the people of Ghana,” he continued.
President Akufo-Addo urged the Upper West people to vote for the flagbearer of the new patriotic party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to continue his good work.
Speaking at a meeting with the clergy, Muslim leaders and other religious leaders during his thank you tour of the Upper West Region, President Akufo-Addo touted some developmental projects he undertook during his eight-year reign.
“In this region, in education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, in the industrial development of our country, and I am with modesty, but also with pride, I can say that in all these areas, I have improved considerably the state of affairs in the Upper West Region compared to what I inherited in 2017.”
“Road work in the Upper West Region increased from 5,797.41 km in 2016 to 6,741.8 km by the end of 2022. This represents a 16% growth in the expansion of the road network in the Upper West… These figures do not include the expansion that has been recorded in 2023 as well as what is going on in 2024.”
President Akufo-Addo urged the people to elect his vice president to become president of Ghana as there is still more work to be done in the region by the government.
“There’s still work to be done but that work has begun and we will continue to do it, you can be sure that if you listen to my plea and allow my vice president to come and stand here in my shoes, work will be completed.”
